Michael is a Chartered Town Planner and Honorary Member of the UK Faculty of Public Health. He previously led the Town and Country Planning Association's Reuniting Health with Planning initiative producing widely-regarded publications and supporting local authorities on the policy and practice of delivering healthy places through the town planning process. As Programme Manager for Planning and Health at Public Health England, he provides expert planning input across a number of topic areas including obesity, lifecourse and physical activity, and is currently delivering the Getting Research into Practice (GRIP) project. Michael initiated and co-founded the Health and Wellbeing in Planning Network. He is a Visiting Fellow at the UK WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Urban Environments and Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar.
